I have to be honest with you guys… I’m not the best when it comes to beauty routines. I tend to take the easy way out rather than take the time to treat my skin, hair and nails with the attention they deserve. I’m learning more and more recently about all the things I’m doing wrong and better change fast before I’m old, wrinkly and my hair’s falling out.
One of the newest things I learned is that I should be taking better care of my nails. I have so many other things that I want to spend my money on (food, drinks, clothes, shoes) that I rarely pay for manicures. I love them and would if I could, but yo girl’s ballin’ on a budget over here. I never really thought about adjusting my at-home nail care to make up for the professional services I’m too cheap to buy.
When learning about Londontown recently, I learned about all this easy stuff you can do to protect your nails and help them grow strong and healthy. They have a line of products devoted to protecting the base. Sure, colors are fab (my nails are always painted), but if your nails are just chipping and breaking every two seconds, not even the coolest shade of greige will make them work.
I also learned that some of those “fab” polishes I have been using in the past actually have terrible things in them that just shouldn’t be on your bod in any way. What I like about Londontown is that their products are good for you (vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, 9-free), they have a bunch of pretty colors AND the packaging is minimalistic perfection. It looks as luxurious as it is.
But back to treating the base… Londontown recommends you do five things:
Each step is super easy with insanely gratifying results. I tried the cuticle oil + this awesome product not on that list, but is an added bonus for all at-home manicurists: Instant Smudge Fix. It basically helps move around the nail polish when you accidentally mess it up so it looks brand new again. Genius. As you can see from the below photos, I’m in major need of such a magic eraser.
