This post about the basics of athleisure is sponsored in part by dressbarn and sojoS. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I’m sure I don’t need to tell you all that I’m no athlete. I like long walks to the fridge and “fitness pizza in my mouth.” I also made a shirt about tacos that’s going to be for sale soon… I think that tells you all you need to know about my relationship with sports, or lack thereof.
The part of the sporty life (besides the hot dog stands) that I like the most is the active wear. Athleisure is the bomb, ya’ll. It’s cozy enough to feel like you’re in pajamas, just the right temperature and gives off major “I’m not even trying, but I look super fly” vibes. dressbarn reached out to me about some of there newest additions to their Westport and dbSunday lines. Both lines are from their lifestyle shops, are very all-American, insanely cozy and perfect for a lazy weekend.
When searching for your own athleisure pieces, make sure they meet these requirements (all good quality pieces should):
- Soft, stretchy pants
- Loose, light-weight tops
- A touch of interesting detailing (i.e. the lace-up part of my top or the zippers on the bottoms of my leggings)
To pull everything together, I like to take my very basic athleisure pieces and pair them with a denim jacket and cool sunnies. It stops me from napping in public places, because my clothes are so cozy. It also just makes the look more streamlined and complete, but mainly the nap thing.

Behind-the-scenes note: when we shot these photos there was a whole street closed in front of the Met for a parade… that may be the best possible thing that could happen to a blogger. Empty streets in front of iconic buildings is like solid gold for me!!!!
