I highly doubt there is anyone more sentimental than me. I am all about mementos and handwritten notes and all that mushy crap that would probably make you puke. That being said, I love the chance to turn any thing into something meaningful. It’s no surprise that I ended up doing that with my jewelry that I wear every day.

I love a fun statement ring or to really layer on the dainty jewelry until it’s a statement itself, but probably six days out of the week, my fingers are adorned by only four, gold rings. Three of the four were introduced on our wedding day and the fourth was added only last week!

I love looking down at my hands and remembering the special people, places and moments in my life. Plus, they look cute and not like the wearable scrapbook they actually are…

1. My engagement ring: This beautiful little thing is something I treasure so much. Memories of hubs getting down on one knee and the love I felt that whole year… that’s the good stuff I want to think about daily.

2. My wedding ring: This reminds of our actual wedding day and how grateful I am to be married to a man that I respect and adore so much.

3. My “Hernandez” ring: I always knew I’d change my name, but at the same time it was really difficult to say goodbye to my maiden name, Hernandez, when it came down to it. My family is such a huge part of who I am, and I have always been so proud to have that last name. I also have Hernandez family on both sides, because my parents had the same last name before getting married. In fact, they met in home room, because they were sitting next to each other (it was in alphabetical order). S’cute. I somehow feel connected to my family through this ring and have worn it ever since the day I got married.

4. My GCC ring: This is the new one that I’m so excited to share with you guys about. Lat & Lo™ has so many beautiful, dainty pieces to choose from. I seriously want them all (this necklace is next on my list). They engrave whatever special place’s coordinates on it that you’d like. Whether it’s the home you grew up in or your wedding location, I think we all have places that we hold dear to us.

For me, and this should come as no surprise, it’s the summer camp I went to as a teenager and later worked at as a counselor. It’s also where I met my husband, got married and met so many of my favorite people. The memories I had there are unlike anywhere else in the world, and each time I get to go back and just sit on the dock over looking our dinky but beautiful lake, I know I’m home. It’s the most comforting, peaceful, joyful place for me, and I’m so glad I get to be reminded of it every day.

My ring has camp’s coordinates as well as the initials “GCC” (the initials of our camp) on the back. It’s so special to me, and I haven’t taken it off since I got it.

  1. Love the pictures…and stories behind each ring. I am curious…who gave you or where did you get the “Hernandez” ring? Way cool! …and I felt the exact same way about my last name when I got married! I felt like I was losing my identity in a way…and wanted to keep “something” close to my heart with my birth name…ring is a good idea!! What I did was I kept ONE of my credit cards I had before I got married in my maiden name even after I changed it to my new name…just so I could still see it and sign “my name” even after I changed it… It’s been 16 years…and I’ve signed my maiden name many many many MANY times…yikes! 🙂 Love your posts!

  2. PS: I went to Lat & Lo’s website….love it!! Now I’m thinking of what I can put on a ring for me and my bestfriend… 🙂
